Balboa Island is a group of three artifical islands in Newport Beach area, on the west coast of Southern California. It features a walkway which offers wonderful views of the beautiful homes, bay and harbor.
Balboa Island is an area of Newport Beach, California comprising three modified or artificial islands in Newport Harbor: the largest Balboa Island, Little Balboa Island on the east, and Collins Island on the northwest. The Balboa Island community is joined to the mainland by a short two-lane bridge on the northeast and a privately-operated ferryboats (Balboa Island Ferry) which provide access across the harbor to the Balboa Peninsula on the south.
Marine Avenue is the heart of the island's apparel district with marvelous boutiques, galleries, and cozy restaurants. The two-mile walk around the island's perimeter is requisite and offers views of the harbor's yachts and the island's bayside bungalows and million-dollar mansions.
Balboa Island became part of the City of Newport Beach in 1916 with first homes being build there in 1921. Over the years, it has developed into a close-knit community, home to professionals, families, retirees, students and celebrities. Balboa Island is one of the most expensive real estate markets in North America.
